Yes, in principle I agree that standard DSL service is not as 'reliable' as what is promised from Frame Relay.

As a practical matter, when my DSL provider is not having server problems :-), there are few interruptions in service that are internet related, and latency is quite small 99% of the time. This costs me $49 a month and its available even cheaper from other providers.

As far as actual response time to trades, there is no practical difference in performance, as I get instantaneous fills and cancels. My orders show up on L2 in under a second, using 3 different firms.

Now, is Frame Relay at $900 (10k a year) a good for 100% uptime without any 'internet issues'? If so, and you are a heavy player, then this may be a worthy investment. For the typical daytrader it's overkill.
