After I posted that message, it occurred to me that things like retail sales, housing starts and payroll taxes could be lagging indicators. I believe stocks have not built in enough risk premium considering the current state of affairs, but I also believe the bears sometimes ignore or don't bother trying to find alternative explanations. Or maybe that was my personal failing? <G>

If I'm bullish, I'm always trying to see the holes in my thinking. I even seek out the bearish perspective. I'd like to think that if I'm bearish, I'd try to shoot down every bearish argument with bullish spin or silver lining, just to make sure I'm seeing something that more closely approximates reality, as opposed to my own reflection.
