I disagree- I think you acknowledge the truth- that most of us (perhaps all) make assumptions about other races. We accept that as a given- and we realize that we need to look extra hard at conclusions and solutions, to make sure we have not done something illogical on the basis of our underlying belief system. I certainly don't blame or hate non-virulent racists. That would be engaging in self hatred and I don't go in for that. It is merely something underlying our behavior that I think should be out on the table. For both blacks and whites and everyone else- because many blacks (perhaps all) have a lot of negative assumptions about whites, too. I think we need to acknowledge that those exist- so that everyone can examine those assumptions- including the people who've never really thought about it. It's just knowledge Karen- and knowledge is power.
