Bigbuk,

>First off - what is your idea of reasonable fees?<

For me, reasonable fees would be paying around $25 per trade (max 1,000 shares)and around $100 per month for direct quotes. Tradefreedom's per trade fee is slightly pricy compared to any other discount broker. However, this is not the problem The problem is its "direct quote" fee structure. For 1 -49 trades a month, the charge for the month is $530 !! So, there's no rest for you. Get sick one month, or when you feel like taking a rest from trading, be prepared to pay the $530 monthly rent !! IMO, it is a ridiculous and punitive fee structure.

I think the fee structure of DAT brokers in the U.S. makes sense. US$10 - $15 per trade, and US$100 direct quote fee per month. So, if you don't make enough trades in one month to get direct quote for free, the cost is only $100.

Best luck on your trading!
