It is interesting that you mention the last election. The one who had not voted Republican in a decade told me that she had an extraordinarily difficult time voting for Gore. She did, but only because of the Presidential power of judicial appointment.

She and many of her friends discussed this for quite some time at their regular "moms' night out" bunco games. They thought that, if Gore won, it would be interpreted as a vindication of Clinton's personal infidelities, and none of them wanted that. In the end, as many said they voted for Bush as for Gore, although almost all of the group are Democrats or independents who usually vote for the Democratic Party candidate (and none of them thought Clinton should be impeached).
