Scumbria, <P4 only good on low IPC applications (memory bound)... "It kind of makes you wonder what they were smoking up in Portland> Their biggest problem was vastly underestimating the die size, which resulted in dropping execution units, cache sizes and decoding ability. Over-optimism is a trait common to engineers, but I'm surprised at how bad it bit Intel. A few more process engineers on the design team and it might have turned out better. The P4 that resulted is more suitable for a PhD dissertation than for a computer. Petz
