People will claim, hubris ad nauseam, that x, y, and z will be present at the bottom of the equipment cycle. If these factors don't fall into place roughly approximating these preconceived ideas of a cycle bottom, then the bottom 'by definition' has not occurred.

Somehow I doubt that accusing each other of hubris is going to shed any real light on where the bottom is. I should also point out that a few posts back, you expressed disdain for "This time it's different" arguments. Now you're making a "This time it's different" argument of your own.

The recovery in this sector will most likely be driven by fundamentals. In other words, when we stop hearing about bookings going down and start seeing them go up, then we will know that we have passed the bottom. Until then it's all speculation and plausibility arguments.
