Jim, A previous board life. Don't worry, I won't tell... This is kind of a weird game you are playing. If you knew who I was, then you wouldn't have started this conversation in the first place. And no, I have never posted under anything other than my alias. On the job training is generally how MSEE's learn to design CPUs. All of the IP is industry secrets, and are not generally available to Universities. Having said that, some of the better ideas in Microprocessor architecture have come out of Cal and Stanford.
