Re: Classical Cases

IMHO it ain't classical any more. Let's look at three issues:

1. NKE is the biggest employer in the Republic (or whatever) of Vietnam. They import shoes into the good ole' USA. They sell those shoes at an extreme profit. Balance of trade is negative; extreme profit is positive. Alas, we are led to believe.

2. We export big-time technology. What is the value? My understanding is that, back in the old days when we had those disk thingies, Commerce valued them at the value of plastic. I would suppose that the value now has to be approaching air.

3. I've seen statistics that say that 10% of the public controls 90% of the assets in this Republic. Well, if public savings equal what these folks have in the banks, and their rip-off rates of returns, I could easily understand the confusion. Fact is that most of these folks have their assets in those non-counted retirement plans and those silly equity things.

I'm all for the old math as opposed to the new math, but it needs to reflect the reality. But what does a swamp rat know?
