I'm aware of this prejudice and not proud of it.

I don't see avoiding a seat next to someone who is spilling out of his own and into yours as prejudice at all! I have the same guilt feelings as you about my reaction (we are such nice people and of course would avoid hurting feelings if possible!) but I also fly frequently enough to know that a long flight with some stranger's body pressed against mine is very unpleasant. It isn't prejudice; it's fact.
Unless of course the body was maybe Nicholas Cage's.
I might make an exception then.
In fact, I would tell him to spill his body anywhere he liked in my direction.

My pet peeve on airplanes are the parents who allow their children to kick the seat in front of them repeatedly.
