Lucent Technologies Teams with Harris Corp. to Provide DSL Testing
Through Joint Marketing Agreement

CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 2001--Harris Corp. (NYSE:HRS - news) today announced that it has signed a joint marketing
agreement with Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU - news) to ensure that service providers can use Harris Remote Test Units (RTUs) with Lucent
Technologies' Network Service Assurance-LoopCare (NSA-LoopCare) software. This will give service providers an additional option for testing
their digital subscriber line (DSL) installations.

Under the agreement, the two companies will create interfaces in their products that allow Harris RTUs to be remotely managed via Lucent's
NSA-LoopCare.

Harris and Lucent each have more than two decades of experience in copper loop testing. The Lucent agreement is the latest in Harris' efforts to
provide its customers with end-to-end solutions for DSL deployment by developing strategic relationships with other industry leaders.

``This agreement gives our customers the option to deploy the Harris test system in their network,'' said Jim Cerwinski, senior manager, Lucent
Technologies' InterNetworking Systems Group. ``By ensuring that our products are compatible, our customers worldwide can concentrate on
providing quality service, without worrying about whether these pieces of their network will work together.''

Harris RTUs perform physical layer testing on copper lines in order to qualify them for a broad range of existing and emerging telecommunications
services. Physical layer testing pinpoints the location and nature of problems within the copper loop itself. The Lucent NSA-LoopCare system is
built using the expertise developed for the Lucent Mechanized Loop Testing (MLT) system, which is already in use for testing more than 140 million
copper lines.

The NSA-LoopCare software provides centralized, economical management of a full spectrum of local loop services, including digital subscriber line
(DSL) and plain old telephone service (POTS).

``Interoperability is the key to the successful mass-market deployment of DSL,'' said Greg Bublitz, business unit leader of Access Test and
Management solutions for Harris Corp.'s Network Support Division. ``Providing an easy-to-implement solution allows our customers to quickly
integrate test capabilities into their networks.''

The agreement results in a scalable, economical provisioning process utilizing Lucent's LoopCare system and Harris Corp.'s family of RTUs,
including the new Pyramid Series(TM) remote test heads. This permits each company to focus on its core competencies while allowing its customers
more confidence in their purchasing decisions.

Harris' Network Support Division (NSD) delivers solutions to public and private communications service providers around the world. NSD's
solutions focus on the needs of operations, maintenance and installation professionals in deregulated telecommunications markets worldwide, by
providing next level line test and network management systems, as well as test sets and tools.

Harris Corp. is an international communications equipment company focused on providing product, system and service solutions that take its
customers to the next level. The company provides a wide range of products and services for wireless, broadcast, network support and government
markets. The company has sales and service facilities in nearly 90 countries. Additional information about Harris Corp. is available at
