The online services are nothing special. And offer no more or less than any other brokerage or bank.

The point was that FTU is obviously losing profitable customers to 'other' places. The FTU representative mentioned Etrade many times in the conversation as his comparison. Therefore I thought it must be relevant.

So should the customer be penalized by 1.4% on a CD, .75% on interest checking, and pay higher broker fees just because FTU has an out of whack non market competitive cost structure to support?

btw FTU reassigned many of their online brokerage employees to 'other' areas according to the local Charlotte paper a few weeks ago.
