Alex your missing all my points. I can't help it if MS products don't meet expectations as advertised by MS. If IBM ,HP,Sun screwed up I could have used them as examples but they didn't so I'm left with MS. Now let me start all over again.

Change . . . . To make different: to make radically different.
Consumer . . . One that consumes: one that utilizes economic goods.
Cult . . . Great devotion to a person,idea, or thing.
Product . . . Something produced.
Productivity . Rate of production.
Satisfied . . Fulfillment of a need or want.


MS doesn't want to change present computing platform. People who agree with MS I call them MS cult followers. It's not meant to be a insult it's just how I describe them.
Now consumers want a quality product and expect it. The present computing platform is very buggy so therefore consumer productivity is not as good a you would think. You said - ' there isn't anything that really competes on price/performance with MS OS's, except UNIX on
high-end systems (where they've got the sysop on standby). ' Don't even try to compare MS with UNIX. Any UNIX person I've talked to are very satisfied. Why should consumers put up with all the hassles involved in Windows.

I think we need a change in computer systems. IMHO I think a computer should be like a television set you turn it on you watch a program if you don't like the program or the program is over you turn the channel. Along comes this internet explosion and the idea of NC.
