Nasdaq Trading Volume

For a long time there has been a debate about the Nasdaq double counting (counting the buy and the sell side of one trade, as two separate trades) in their overall trading volume.

I recently heard talk on CNBC that this practice has ended just recently?? Does anyone know if this change in counting of volume would also reflect in recent reduction of 1/2 or much at least lower daily volume for most Nasdaq stocks?

Regards

Don
