South Africa is a lot better off than the rest of the continent, too, at least in terms of ability to deliver health care. Ebola is really yucky, but it's been around a while, and there's no indication that it spread that easily.. If you read the article linked above, you'll see that doing something about AIDS is not anywhere near as impossible as the "wrath of God" types would make out, but they, as well as SI "propety rights more important than life itself" types are certainly doing their best to fight one particular solution.
