Richard, just because a stock has been delisted it does not mean you are no longer responsible for returning the shares you borrowed when you shorted it. This may seem odd, because in some cases the stock may not be worth much, but the dealer will not release the cash to you. The solution is to buy the shares in the OTC market and deliver them to the dealer.
