I didn't try to interpret it. I called Roberta Salings.
Much better idea. I encourage all the real OE investors to call her when you have questions. That's what she's there for, she'll return your call if she's not there, and while you can't get a spec of unpublic information out of her, you can often avoid a misunderstanding by talking with her. I am dismayed that OE could write two confusing press releases this close together. If you read it carefully, you can make out that Siemens doesn't want out of the automotive part. But it's practically cryptic. Note this is picked up by krw on the club thread (sharp eye krw). OE recovered from much of the damage by the time the market closed, but the whole thing was unnecessary. I presume the press release caused the selling, not the OMC news.
And as much as I hate to agree with one of Yahoo's shystershorts, I don't see Bombardier retrofitting OMC motors with OCP. It would be expensive and cause too much market delay. I think RAM Ficht has solved the earlier problems, but it's still inferior and it still costs more. While it performs some functions well, I think when emissions tighten in the next round they'll start to have trouble meeting them while OptiMax won't. Plus you don't get OCP's self cleaning injector feature, which will become an issue on all high mileage DFI engines. And finally, not only will you pay more to buy a Ficht motor (unless that changes) and get stuck buying special OMC DFI oil, you'll get less for the motor when it comes time to sell. It will be a long, long time before boaters forget the Ficht debacle. NOBODY wants a used Ficht motor. |
