We were once really loaded and now well we gave it all back. That about sums it up for myself and one of my dear buddies of S.I. We had our meeting of Southern Californians in Del Mar again this Saturday past. One of the more profound anomalies of our meeting, no one was really interested in coming. The bull is dead and fear is in our soul. Bottom line, when we were all just running onward and mostly upward in our portfolio’s and skies were only blue, our get togethers were a whole lot more fun. Everyone was there in the risk free world of equities investing. It seems as if now the whole complexion has changed. So For Scott and Sandi it was the great event of friends from S.I. and how fun it is just to see each other, Freeus, Doug H, Walkinshadow, & Spreck. What a wonderful feeling for myself to be with my cyberspace world of friends. What were two and half years ago a crazy thing to do, go meet with those weird Silicon investor people according to my wife Sandi, is now an event that we both plan on. There was not a whole lot to say about the current conditions. They rather speak for themselves. But to plan for the future is what we should all be doing and gathering ideas on how to cope. That was more of an individual philosophical theme passed on to us by Walkingshadow. For myself a wonderful experience I needed to be there for. So I may not be able to enlighten you to how any strategies may be in the markets for the near term as we all have been experiencing the raw pain and power of the bear. The only other discussion was the loss of Mr. Vendit. I can only speak for myself on that. In the early days of the AOL thread is when I became Acquainted with Reid and his TA. He consistently gave the most commonsense thoughts on TA on the thread. He slowly gained my respect and has never lost it since. I have seen the lighthearted and the heavy fisted banter of all sorts. All I can say at this point in time is that I am saddened that people take their shit so personally that they become filled with revenge. I miss Vendit, his personality and his banter on SI. The good news on the other hand is we still all have each other and life goes on.
Hope fully in six more months we will have another meeting and we will then have more fun things to talk about. Maybe the bull will come back for a short visit. And at that time I plan on having it at our new house in the San Fernando Valley.
