Tom - At least have the decency to do the math right. The $300,000 individual or couple gets over $9,000 annually in this tax cut, not $1,800. After $297,300, both individuals and couples save $6,600 for each additional $100,000 in income. So a $500,000 earner would save over $22,000 in taxes under the Bush plan. Enough for a small Acura.

So, in reality (not GOP voodoo BS) the $300,000 guy gets about 20 times as large a savings as the $50,000 guy. Not enough to buy a Lexus, but a much larger difference than you imply.

That being said, as a big earner, I will get a huge check -- more extra cash to donate to the Democratic party.

Here's reality:

Income Old Rate New Rate (Amt. - Comment)
0-12,000 15% 10% ($600 - Good)
12,001-45,200 15% 15% ( $0 - BS)
45,201-109,250 28% 25% (1,900+ - OK)
109,251-166,450 31% 25% (4,000+ - Uh, rich)
166,451-297,300 36% 33% (3,900+ - OK)
297,301+ 39.6% 33% (6,600 per 100K -Oink)
