Amy, As you know, my wife is from the Soviet Union. The contention that Reagan's military spending put them under is ludicrous. The country was bankrupt after 80 years of stifling Government corruption and oppression. Gorbachev has said that Reagan's threats made it harder to implement reform, because it gave the hard liners some credibility. Why is Bush hurrying up his tax cut? Because he is afraid the interest rate cuts will kick in, and he won't get credit for the "recovery". I hope his tax cut makes him feel better about his daddy's broken promise!
