| | Bombardier Receives an Order for 20 Street-Trams From the City of Dresden, Germany
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--A consortium of Bombardier Transportation and Adtranz was awarded a contract by the transport authority of Dresden (DVB) for the delivery of 20 low-floor street-trams. The total order is valued at approximately Cdn$70 million (50 million Euro). Bombardier's share is estimated at approximately Cdn$49 million (35 million Euro). Delivery of the vehicles will start in December 2002 and is scheduled to be completed by mid 2004. The contract also includes an option for the delivery of an additional 50 trams.
Through its plant located in Bautzen, Germany, Bombardier Transportation, as leader of the consortium, will be responsible for the overall design and the manufacture of the vehicles, which also includes the assembly of the electrical equipment. Adtranz is responsible for the electrical portion of the contract. The new street-trams are based on Bombardier's street-tram family which can feature different vehicle lengths depending on the cities' ridership requirements.
