ICTV's U.S. Patent Portfolio Now Totals 19
Intellectual Property Portfolio Continues to Grow
LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2001--ICTV, supplier of headend-based hardware and software solutions for the delivery of Interactive TV applications to digital set tops, announced today that its U.S. patent portfolio now totals 19.
Four U.S. utility patents were issued in 2000 alone and two more patent applications should be issued early this year. In addition to the 19 issued U.S. patents and two allowed U.S. patent applications held by ICTV, a number of inventions remain pending before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
These patents support the efficient headend-centric approach it pioneered in the early 1990s.
``ICTV has a strong commitment to the innovation, development and protection of its technology,'' said Wesley Hoffman, President of ICTV.
Hoffman stated, ``Our intellectual property sets us apart from others in the industry and we have the technology to offer our customers the entire spectrum of ITV applications ranging from simple e-mail to full Broadband Internet access across all generations of digital set-tops.''
ICTV's intellectual property combined with its early to market advantage and advanced TV browser, is fast cementing it as an industry leader. Only ICTV's technology allows consumers to currently enjoy the rich experience of Broadband TV, complete with full audio, video, and motion capabilities, consistently across all digital set tops.
The four additional U.S. utility patents awarded to ICTV in the 2000 calendar year include: No. 6,034,678 - Cable Television with Remote Interactive Processor; No. 6,055,315 - Distributed Scrambling Method and System; No. 6,064,377 - Subscriber-Directed Simultaneous Multiple Signal Presentation Arrangement for Interactive Cable Television System; and 6,100,833 - Interactive Home Information System.
