Then there is fuel delivery infrastructure (cost) ... doesn't mean it can't be built, but it is a cost that is not counted in the glowing reco's.

Trains pull up every day and dump coal at our plants -- a single location to serve the needs of thousands of customers. Kind of convenient, huh? True, the electrical transmission costs real money, but the point is the capital has already been sunk ...

Delivery of fuels sufficent to power a fuel cell in everyone's backyard somewhere is not a simple matter -- cars are transportation -- you get fuel while you are going somewhere -- fuel cells don't take you anywhere -- if everyone in a neighborhood adopted nat gas powered fuel cells where there was already a nat gas distribution system for heat, the current system would have to be augmented at the very least (more likely be replaced in large proportion) -- this would be a high cost proposition.

Suppose you use methanol instead -- I guess we could all have storage tanks, like propane (heck you could probably use propane as a hydrogen source, too), but how big would the tanks have to be and how often would deliveries have to be made? Remember you are using the electricity year-round.

Now you have gotten me curious ... when I get some spare time I am going to do some calculations :-)
