Bought CSCO today, put 15% of my money into it at 30 1/8. IMO, sentiment on CSCO is now as bad as when I last bought the stock, in early 1997. The valuation is not as low as then, but it is now a much bigger company, with undiminished growth prospects (longterm). The candidates for dominating the telecom-equip industry are Cisco and Lucent, and it looks clear to me that Cisco is winning that contest. The telco equip industry is much bigger than the network equip industry.

In addition, tax cuts and Fed rate cuts are going to put a floor under stock prices in 2001.

NTAP........I've looked at it, and looked again when it hit 40, and I just can't convince myself that its turf is as defensible as CSCO's or AMAT's. I'm afraid that EMC has the resources to keep making attempts to invade NTAP's niche, and eventually they will succeed. I can't see anyone successfully challenging AMAT or CSCO in their core markets.
