Consumer Confidence Problem: did anyone see the report on CNBC this morning on eroding consumer confidence? These numbers have got to be alarming to Greenspan. And today's attack on CSCO should also be getting his attention. Don't be surprised if he acts now, sooner than later. I've heard rumors of another half-point cut in early-mid february but we'll just have to see. Certainly if short attacks last beyond today he will act. Reason being they're attacking millions of citizens' savings and retirement money. That really hurts the economy and can be seen as irrational exhuberance on the downside. Greenspan will defend those savings I believe. He must. And he can.
