That's right...you need to look up the word "pristine"...never mind..it means untouched, pure, like new.

After an oil spill, ANWAR will never be pristine again.
I am unclear why this is so difficult to comprehend....have you never see the results of an oil spill?


What exactly do you mean by pristine and untouched in this context. It has been "touched", it has also been changed both by man and nature. If you think it will be ecologically devistated by any oil drilling then feel free to make that case, but I don't find pristine to be a well defined or useful concept in this context.
