Have to be careful though. "Strong and sudden" is also the trademark of a bear market bounce.

True, if you are looking at a short period of time. The danger is the usual bi-polar mood that most investors have during a market turn down. They ride the market down and then go into cash too much and miss the first big upward move which can be a substantial portion of the yearly increase. Tech stocks, if anything, magnify this move.

What happens is the same people that say "I should have gotten out before the market tanked" are the ones that say "I knew I should have gotten back in " after the market takes off.

It'll happen, wait and see.

A subtle strength of a Long Term Buy and Hold strategy is that the investor avoids having to make the timing decisions and over a few cycles builds up a profit cushion that eases the pain of market declines which have always been with us and probably will be.
