I nibbled; part of my globalization project. I've been finding that the weaker dollar will hurt some of these global companies. Truly a difficult calculation in most cases, as multiple variables are involved. One question is the possible impact on demand a weaker dollar and US economy might have.

SASOL has a partnership with Chevron to exploit GTL, but that's a five year project. I'd prefer something with Phillips, to enable the shipping of stranded AK gas, but can't have everything. Maybe there's something there behind the recent purchase of TOS. I suspect the majors are waiting for the tax cuts/investment credits to determine how they will ultimately approach the northern resources.

Sasol recently took on a merger with a euro division of another company which will increase their debt, so there is potential for problems there, and possible upside if they recognize synergies. Sort of makes them an Energy Technology/Energy Producer/Chemical concern with the bulk of their income ex US. Not a bad combination, IMO.

Interesting chart;
