another thing: SASOL has a coal-to-oil conversion facility, dating from the sanctions period. since there's lots of coal in SA, it sort of suggested itself as a logical step to circumvent the sanctions a bit.

i believe at current oil prices this division is profitable (i'd have to check though to make 100% sure)...anyway, my point is, SASOL has a big lead technologically and in terms of existing production facilities in this field, and that may come in handy if crude oil shortages continue to persist and drive prices even higher.

i don't believe it's a big part of their revenues currently, but it has potential.
