Alcatel refuses comment on buying C&W's PCCW shrs 2001-02-08 10:08 (Infocast News) Rumour has it that Cable & Wireless plans to sell all of its PCCW (0008) existing shares worth of about $14 billion to Telecom Italia, French telecommunications company Alcatel and an US corporation. Alcatel's spokesperson declined to comment on the report. PCCW Chairman Richard Li said last night that the company is now in negotiation with Cable & Wireless about the said stake and expected such an issue to solve in one or two weeks. infocastfn.com
