PCCW Sees Announcement on C&W Sale Within 2 Weeks Feb 07, 2001 - 19:29:36 HKT Quamnet News Service Pacific Century CyberWorks (0008), Richard Li's communications company, expects to make an announcement within the next two weeks on a proposed sale of a stake in the company by Cable & Wireless Plc, its second-largest shareholder, said Richard Li, its chairman. He said PCCW has been in close contacts with C&W on the planned stake sale. The British company can sell a 7.5 percent stake in PCCW following the expiry of a lock-up period on Feb. 17. Meantime, Li said PCCW has never discussed with his father Li Ka-shing's Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd. (0001) and Hutchison Whampoa (0013) on a possible purchase of PCCW shares to be sold by C&W. Such rumors had driven up PCCW shares by 10 percent on Jan. 18, when the two Lis had a rare lunch together at a Hong Kong hotel. quamnet.com
