A wonder of the technology, here is how we can define the Cybird, amazing and revolutionary Korean device for the wireless communications at 360°. Its aspect is the one of a common palmar, perhaps having a more particular design, but this device can be considered as a PC in every respect implementing futuristic technologies and out of the common functions.
The form of communication "wireless" supports the high speed (up to 64 Kb/secs.) employing, for the purpose, the chip MSM 3000. Not only: it is possible to communicate vocally between the fixed unit and the mobile device, through the new Bluetooth technology and the VGA resolution is of 640 x 480.
Different are the advantages that this terminal offers in comparison to those that until now we have been accustomed to seeing: first of all, integrating a cellular phone (working on the CDMA net) and a PDA, there are no more problems of connection between the two devices (for an easy and high-speed access to the net always and everywhere) and old fashioned are the problems tied up to the scarce visualization of the display of a normal telephone, that, as we know, is of limited dimensions. The considerable available resolution for the display TFT LCD (640 x 480) and its dimensions of 4", allow, besides, an excellent visualization during the Internet session and it allows to support completely the applications of a normal traditional PC. It is, then, possible the connection to many other devices such as GPS receivers, printers, scanner for bar codes and LAN, in different ways: RS-232C cable, IrDA door, CF Type II, etc.
It is obvious that services such as the short messages (SMS), that always continue to have a big success in much more nations, are fully supported by the Cybird that, indeed, improves considerably the method of composing and reading the SMS themselves. The web browser of the handset under examination is compatible with the MS Internet Explorer 4.0 and supports HTML 4.0 and the JavaScript.
The dimensions of the device are 127 x 102 x 22 mm. for a weight of 299 grams. The processor in endowment is an Intel Strong Arm SA-1100, the available RAM is of 32 MB and the ROM it is similarly of 32 MB (of flash type). The antenna is of a fixed type and there is even a plug for the external headphone. Since a traditional keyboard is not present, the interaction with the Cybird occurs through the screen touch panel on which we act through stylus pen in endowment.
The batteries are two, made of the ions of lithium, from 930 mAhs each for a total capability of 1860 mAhs - and one more for the back up to the Ni-Mh from 90 mAhs of capability. The operative system is Windows CE in version 3.0. Among the available functions: system of recognition of the manual writing; client for the e-mail; notebook; Poketword; some games; diary and index book; calculating machine; vocal recorder; reader MP3.
The only thing that can be said of this Cybird is that it is complete, but who knows when it can be seen here in our country in version GSM dual band: as of today we know that it will be commercialized for March this year in USA. It is logical, then, that its price cannot be anything but high considering its innumerable functions and the different devices that it integrates, essential for the manager of next future, not very distant. <<
