Brown, said the JDSU-Nortel deal made good sense for both parties. "What [JDSU/SDL] are giving up makes immense logical sense; they are keeping the good part of the 980 nanometer [pump laser] business and getting rid of less technological advanced chips to Nortel." He said the combined company will be "extremely powerful" because it will be able to supply complete pump laser modules. Srikanth said it gives Nortel a greater presence in the pump laser chip market and it strengthens the supply relationship with JDSU/SDL. " Can we safely say now the DOJ was snookered again?
