Applied Materials asks employees to take Fridays off without pay: www0.mercurycenter.com In past downturns, when AMAT announced layoffs, the price usually bottomed according to people here (I don't chart this). This workweek reduction serves the same purpose as a layoff but retains a workforce that was very hard to hire in the last up market. I like it! K
