to costs and consume more of a doctor's time.......
.....This is the heart of Baumol's cost disease.
If doctors are to have anything like a stable standard of
living, their services need to become more expensive.
The handicraft nature of medical care, and the static
nature of our services, means higher health care costs are
an economic fact of life if doctors are going to maintain
their incomes.
