Hello Jas, I can only venture to speculate that if Maxtor is indeed going 100% MR by the end of this quarter as you and I have been told, then the recent runnup must be based on positive beliefs that KM will work well with MR heads. At least you were told that KM plans were confidential. When I asked the Maxtor Rep, Linda Bradshaw, she did not know anything about KM. I can only see this as a plus for Ampex in their negotiations with other drive Manufacturers. They will all be competing more aggressivly for market share by producing larger and cheaper drives. Ampex can fill their needs quickly with KM. Maxtor at this point has a distinct advantage over others because of their contract with Ampex. I wonder if the contract includes using KM with MR heads.
