patricia,

it's up to you if you want to repair the prob. reading through the steps without performing any of them isn't going to help. everything in those steps aumha.org looks valid, logical and in good sequence to me. i see where one of the 'other solutions' listed in step 15 (returning the CMOS to factory settings) would issue a warning of the nature you described. otherwise, with reasonable confidence and help here if you need it, i say the shutdown troubleshooter is the best shot you've got. simply following along step at a time, anyone here on the thread would be glad to assist you if you had a question.

having said all that, i do acknowledge that comfort level is a crucial consideration. if a person is spooked, maybe there's an increased likelihood that they'll make a wrong move. who knows. but that's what we do here on this thread, we try to take charge of our machines and solve these probs and not let them dictate to us.

so i'll not say anymore about the shutdown errors, unless you decide to actually try some of those solutions.

good luck

:)
