Rarebird, Could you please pass this on to your wife for me????

If you are struggling with the painful emotions of a past abortion decision, you are not alone. After an abortion, many women experience feelings of grief, anger, guilt, regret and emptiness. It is not uncommon to feel as though something is missing, or that things are out of order.

These feelings are often referred to as "Post-Abortion Stress."

Post-abortion stress (PAS) results when a woman or man represses the emotions that they have after an abortion experience.

Use the checklist below to determine where you are in dealing with your past abortion experience. If you answer "yes" to any of these questions, you may be experiencing post-abortion stress...

Are you experiencing Post-abortion Stress??

Are you struggling to turn off feeling connected to your abortion(s)??

Are you trying to make yourself "forget" about it??

Do physical reminders of your abortion such as babies, pregnant women, or baby clothes effect you??

Are you uncomfortable around children??

Are you depressed, sick or accident prone around the anniversary date of the abortion or due date??

Are you in a situation where you could be faced with another unwanted pregnancy??

Have you substantially increased use of drugs or alcohol??

Are you struggling with eating disorders, abusive relationships, or increased promiscuity??

Have you experienced prolonged depression??

Have you had suicidal thoughts since your abortion??

Have you had peculiar reactions to your experience, such as, nightmares, flashbacks or hallucinations??

Are you able to talk about abortion, or do your feelings overwhelm you when discussing it??

In relationships, do you have difficulty with intimacy, are you overly dependent on other people, or do you avoid meaningful relationships??

If you have children do you feel compelled to smother or overprotect them?? or do you have difficulty bonding with your children??

Do you fear that your past abortion will cause you future infertility problems??
