CatLady ...

nope, my problem boxes are two with FIC boards ...
the SOYO one, along with an ABIT one caught too much electric current .....

as I recall, (getting old and memory is going ...ggg) but I had a somewhat similar difficulty with the SOYO early last year ...
I went into the CMOS and disabled something ...
dang, can't remember what ...
default was making it hard to work properly ....

couldn't have been the same SOYO board as you have tho, cause I hardly ever buy any that don't have at least five slots + ....
but in the long ago, I would disable any built in sound or vid that I din't like in the CMOS ....now I just don't buy a MB that has built ins .....

I really think that is what I'm going to have to do with these FIC boards to make them work like I wish .....

for exapmle, I disabled the AGP as primary on an old one I'm using now (ABIT) and have 3 PCIs running the three monitors ....and this box is the next one to be refurbed next week as the board has a cold solder joint and I don't like having to wait for it to warm up to be troublefree ....

now, I do overclock nearly everything and this does create some problems ...
as in a CPU and MB normally won't last me over a year ....

but I am running these new FICs at normal speed now to make sure I get them functioning properly ...
did have them overclocked at first and thought that might be causing the difficulty ....

I'll see if I can recollect the CMOS change I made for you ...
