Hello out there - EDS business model getting some recognition after yesterday's earnings report-
**********
comments from CSFB:
The quarter got rave reviews from CS First Boston and the firm raised its EDS rating to "strong buy" from "buy" on Thursday. The brokerage revenue and earnings were "well ahead of our expectations." And it noted that EDS' contract signings were beginning to be reflected in the revenue stream.
It said that the macro environment fits EDS' business model and that the company's fundamentals were "clearly improving." The firm raised its revenue, earnings-per-share and price target on the stock.

comments from Myrna Vance EDS Investor Relations:
"One of the great benefits we have at EDS is we're solid whether the economy goes up or goes down," Vance said. "In the bad times, customers are looking for ways to cut costs and to increase productivity. In the good times, they buy from us to grow their business faster or to improve customer satisfaction."

EDS enters 2001 with a backlog of close to $80 billion in signed business. That's four times the current annual revenue run rate. John Chambers would kill to get this kind of revenue assurance in these economic times. The EDS business model works in good and bad times - even IBM recognizes this.
