Agreed.........we need to forget the rhetoric and do what is reasonable to solve the problem.

I just watched C-span and heard the two Ca. Senators talk on our energy problem. They were talking about energy cause they were discussing a bill to increase pipeline safety. One of the Washington State Senators was sponsoring the bill due to an accident that happened in Bellingham. I think it was receiving support from both parties.

Feinstein had some interesting facts to lay out. Apparently CA has increased it's energy producing capacity by more than any other state in the union during the last 10 years. The problem is that growth has exceeded their estimates so we didn't increase our generating capacity enough ( nothing new there! ). We have 20 some odd generating plants being built right now but only 9 will be ready by 2002. She said that it took 6 years for approval of a plant and that would have to change.

Both Senators were in favor of looking at all sides of the issue and doing what is necessary to get energy flowing. They also indicated that all the western states are at risk due to the lack of increased capacity to transport energy.

We all could have done without the MTBE!!!!! The Sierra Club has turned into a money making machine for the attorneys that have taken it over. I missed that rally in Sacramento cause of work but some of my friends went.
