I guess the same claim can be made about the near-dead Alpha that keeps slipping in to the distant future. Oh, you mean the ones that aren't shipping yet and winning several hundred million dollar supercomputer contracts? Again, you don't have to have shipping parts... just better vapor than everyone else ;-) But back to Itanium... would have made a great 1998 part, but a very dull 2H 2001 part: zdnet.com "Going back to '95, the expectation within the company was that the chip would be out in 1998," said Gwennap, previously the publisher of the Microprocessor Report.
