Definition of an optimist... a British resident with solar panels on the roof.

For those who haven't experienced our climate... think Seattle, but with less mountains to block the wind. Over 20C (about 68F) is sunbathing weather; peaks over 25C (about 77F) for more than two days make a heatwave. That's in summer.

Agreed with you on the long-life bulbs, I'm almost entirely converted and I think the bills are becoming smaller. You know that you also get very good savings by switching TV, video, computers etc off properly rather than leaving them on standby...? The amount of electricity saved thus is surprising.
