John,

re: QUALCOMM/SpinCo (COO Richard Sulpizio) Audio BAS Presentation Q&A

<< I hate to say this, but Sculpezio talks a little too much--sounds like some lightweight trying to impress others with how smart he is because he is a little confused about his own self image--just doesn't cut it for me. >>

I'm glad you brought that up.

I was going to comment back to Mike on that. I read his post about Tom Siebel just after I had listened to Rich. You beat me too the punch.

Rich is good. He is articulate and quick. His confidence, however, projects as braggadocio, and he is decidedly unworldly wireless wise. He is also a little loose with "fact".

If one only listened to him, one would have an impression of the wireless industry that is decidedly one sided.

I have spent more time than I perhaps should, over the last 9 months, listening to the executives of other wireless companies participating in conference calls, presentations and Q&A's.

There is a marked difference in styles. There is also a marked difference in the way "facts" are used, and competition dealt with. In the case of QUALCOMM, it's "competition" and it's competitive users, are in fact, their best prospects.

If I were making a critical sales call on a knowledgeable carrier executive and his staff (and I expect some listened today or will listen), I'm not sure I would want him along, or perhaps I would but I would give him some "style" coaching, before we presented.

I have not yet listened to the CC itself. Don't have a link. I'm assuming one is available ... but never assume. Do you have one?

I thought the Q&A was very good. All QUALCOMM investors ought to have a listen. There is some "spin", but some very good stuff as well:
