Scumbria,

Bush has three options to cut spending:

1. Cut the military (not going to happen.)

2. Cut Social Security (not going to happen.)
3. Reduce interest payments on the debt. (not going to happen.)

In 1999, the total spending was $1,703 trillion. From that
Social Security 387
Interest (gross) approx 350
Defense 275

Since Social Security is really off budget, a better way to look at it is to say the spending is $1.316 trillion. When I subtract defense and interest, I end up with $691 billion.

This $691 is still growing very fast, and it will be a test on Bush and Congress if they can keep it from expanding out of control.

Just for your information the $691 billion of various domestic spending.

By the way, this category now comprises 63.3% of the budget, up from 26.3% in 1964. A person interested in searching for truth, rather than spewing partisan BS, would try to look where the money has been going, what's behind this unprecedented spending increase.

It is curious that you took this category off the table in your targets for cuts. Actually, it is not curious. It is obvious. You are just a loudmouth for the Democrat party, and any discussion of any issue is completely fruitless. I can just look up your opinion at democrats.org
