charleymike "What happens if the battery is pulled (verrrry carefully) while the machine is booted up and running?" everything i've ever read about swapping out the battery begins with these four words.... "turn off the computer". i can't see it going any other way, but then there are people on this board who have lots more experience with hardware components than i do. maybe one of those brave souls will give you a thumbs up on removing the battery while the machine is running. sounds like you're having some fun, though. case open, installing cards and drives. be careful and good luck. :) mark
