I tried to log into the log book (for your link) but the page could not be displayed. I wanted to leave my favorite quote, and since I couldn't there, I will here:
In order to understand recursion, we must first understand recursion.
Not my all time favorite, but the current one.
A running SI joke: Are you the former SIer known at bigsablepoint, et al?
As a follower of the way, you would then be a supporter of Individual rights, event to the degree as outlined in the Declaration of Indepence?
And the Buddhists would say not to transgress because that will be bad for you in your next life.
And Jesus says that we should love one another. (As we should, if we believed in the Declaration of Independence.)
I say we are all machines. But more than that. But only humans have the ability of any other life form in the universe to recognize that. And to overcome chemical imbalances, etc. Lust is not an evil thing, it is a biological thing. Eating disorder is biological. We are what we are. True. But, that does not mean that we can not share in the Glory. We must overcome our flesh. That is a truth. But that is not to say I am evangelizing one method 0ver another to accomplish that. (ie religion, medicine, etc.). I am not confident enough in my faith to do that. I consider this: Say I am trying to seduce a woman, and I do it so poorly that she is turned off my all men. Consider the judgement a person would have who had little faith and tried to evangelize to many who could have been salvaged, but in the end were not because of their initial contact. And so we should love each other. But it is difficult to do. We learn from experience. We are slaves to our flesh. We are petty and selfish. But is that all we are? I think that I am not, and since all men are created equal, I think you are not. I think (believe, even know?) that you are not.
A nice little short story from my favorite author. comp.nus.edu.sg
A vayo con dios.
Have you read much Chinese? I recently read "Journey to the West" and am trying to start up "The Three Kingdoms".
And a good one from "Tao Teh Ching" # 47
Without going out of your door, You can know the ways of the world. Without peeping through your window, You can see the Way of Heaven. The farther you go, The less you know.
Thus the Sage knows without travelling, Sees without looking, And achieves without Ado. |
