Republicans in 2001 are more represented by Pro-Life, Religious values, and freedom (backed by a strong Military) than anything you mentioned.

That must explain why Bush's first actions were a tax cut (with 90% going to the rich) and drilling in the Arctic.

We need to protect ourselves from those awful Canadians. They could invade any minute. The Missile Defense System is our cute little way of proving our faith.
