esupplyshop.com ... some of these are amazing, more than GPS they are mapping systems, you download in the office whatever structure of data you need, like topographical map of the area, your tentative plan etc ... then in the field you can input various data such as measurement of random tree plots and corrections to the faulty map you inherited, then back to the office to figure out the final plan ... and if you can't find the office, it will ... of course a true logger will have right off input the coordinates of all local pubs as well, no point in taking chances. It's a lot faster and more accurate than the old methods, which means less people are employed to do the same work, that's progress .... but just one more example of technology in an 'old' economy, like the chain saw before it, inevitable and we're better off for it, a fact you'd fully appreciate if you'd ever spent a week on the dumb end of a voopa voopa.
