Gotta "hit the sack" so this will have to be brief. Rydex is the name of a mutual fund family that have a set of paired funds that "track" various market sectors, but (at least in some cases) are structured so that they will move at 2X what the underlying tracked index moves. They tend to be used as trading vehicles by traders that are uninterested in individual stocks. They are a paired set so that one can bet that the particular market segment is going up or down. If you were bearish, you would put money into URSA. Since real money is being used, its a good way to see how people are really "betting" and not just talking.
